Eucalypt Medusa, Because ancient Alexandrians believed the fragrant branches would protect against harm, these trees were grown on either side of entrance doors. The name eucalyptus is derived from the Greek word kaluptos meaning 'well covered'. The silvery buds of the genus are covered with a lid that remains shut until conditions for fertilization are optimum. Here the buds slowly mature in a counterclockwise motion, against a backdrop of tentacle shaped leaves. |
