Victorian Wicked, 2011 Watercolor & Archival Ink Jet on Paper, 30” x 43”
The male and female reproductive parts of an orchid are fused into one column at the center of the blossom. During Victorian times, women were not allowed to view blooming orchids because of their overt sensuality. In this painting I have emphasized the reproductive plant parts and set the orchids within a digital photo of a Victorian Glass House.
